I just want to end by saying that if Adam Smith<\/a> had framed out a theory of the flea market<\/a>instead of the free market, what would be some<\/a> of the principles?<\/a><\/div>\n
First, it would be to understand that it could be<\/a> considered a cooperative, and this is a thought<\/a> from the Brazilian legal scholar Roberto Mangabeira Unger.<\/a> Cooperative development is a way forward.<\/a><\/div>\n
Secondly, from the [Austrian] anarchist philosopher Paul Feyerabend,<\/a> facts are relative, and what is a massive right<\/a> of self-reliance to a Nigerian businessperson<\/a> is considered unauthorized and horrible to other people,<\/a> and we have to recognize that there are differences<\/a> in how people define things and what their facts are.<\/a><\/div>\n
And third is, and I’m taking this from<\/a> the great American beat poet Allen Ginsberg,<\/a> that alternate economies barter and<\/a> different kinds of currency, alternate currencies<\/a> are also very important, and he talked about<\/a> buying what he needed just with his good looks.<\/a><\/div>\n
And so I just want to leave you there, and say that<\/a> this economy is a tremendous force for global development<\/a> and we need to think about it that way.<\/a><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
